Vetschool revisitation visit from EAEVE

On the 20th-22nd September, the Vet School will host a re-visitation team from EAEVE. The EAEVE visit last September did not lead to full re-accreditation, but to “conditional” accreditation, as the VetSchool did not have a common strategy for veterinary education. Such strategy has now been formulated, in close collaboration between the two veterinary institutes - and we very much hope the revisitation will lead to a full re-accreditation. The strategy is contained in the "Revisitation Self-Evaluation Report", which was sent to EAEVE in July 2022. The report also relates to other "minor deficiencies" that the team in 2021 pointed out. During their visitation, Antti Sukura and Pierre Lekeux from EAEVE will follow up on how we have dealt with these, and will present their conclusions from the visit, on Wednesday 21st. September at 4 p.m.

The European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) was founded in 1988, with the primary objective is to monitor the harmonization of the minimum standards set down in the study programme for veterinary surgeons in European Union Directive 2005/36. The EAEVE/FVE evaluation system gives assurance to

  1. the Public – to know they can trust the quality of graduating veterinary surgeons and the service they deliver;
  2. Veterinary students – to know their education reaches agreed and acceptable standards;
  3. Veterinary establishments – to know that their curricula and School reaches agreed benchmarked levels.

As a graduate of an EAEVE-accredited education, you can get a job both nationally and internationally, and you can progress in internationally approved specialisations. As an EAEVE-accredited veterinary education, you can also offer international continuing education and thus attract talent and research funds. In addition to European countries, there are EAEVE accredited veterinary programs in countries such as Japan, Jordan, Israel, Brazil etc.
